Notes from Curator
Anna's work is a study of contrasts, playing with the tension between hard and soft materials - metal against fabric. In these works, hard objects that the artist has found on the streets of South Bermondsey are paired with delicate textiles that have been carefully woven together, creating a dialogue between strength and fragility. This interplay brings to light deeper themes, including the relationship between the masculine and feminine. By blending the rigidity of metal with the softness of lace, she portrays the dynamic balance of these forces, reflecting the porosity between. She seeks to harmonise the seemingly incompatible, crafting a space where opposing elements coexist and interact.
